DOULA  &  BIRTH YEAR SERVICES

"Empowering therapies for Health, Birth, and Growth"

My background is as a therapist--certified in qigong therapy and Asian massage/acupressure. My work in balancing for conception led directly to me becoming a birth doula, as my first client asked me to attend her birth.  As soon as I started the training, I realized being a doula was a fun, natural outlet for my warm, nurturing style. I’ve been a doula since January, 2006 and have attended hospital, home, and water births.  By combining traditional doula comfort measures with Eastern methods, I can offer a wide array of skills, techniques and experience to help support you during labor.

I place an emphasis on the prenatal consultations to discuss your birth plans and any fears, concerns, hopes, desires, or issues that come up.  Also, I like to make sure that you  have some relaxation practices in place.  My goal is that by the time baby comes, my mothers are looking forward to labor and delivery with a sense of personal power--able to trust and relax—allowing for confident and productive labor.

During labor, I help mother get into a deeply relaxed state, and then work to keep her comfortable in that safe, productive cocoon.  I use acupressure, Chinese aromatherapy and tui na massage, and may use chi emission if she gets fatigued, along with traditional positionings, hot or cold packs, etc.  Partners are also supported and coached, to help them participate at their own comfort levels, enhancing their birth experiences as well.

I enjoy preparing personalized meditations (ask me about the Pirates of the Caribbean Disneyland ride visualization!), and I freely share any therapies that may address your discomforts of pregnancy during our prenatal appointments.  Services available separately and in doula packages.

  • Pregnancy Massage (Relaxation)
  • Pregnancy Acupressure (Therapeutic Labor Prep sessions)
  • Prenatal Deep Relaxation private instruction
  • Belly Casting
  • Therapeutic infant tui na massage (booklet & other remedies)
  • Moxabustion to turn breeches
  • Qigong/acupressure/oils/moxa for induction (overdue only)
  • Postpartum doula services available
  • Postpartum qigong private instruction

As a last word, women often find old issues surfacing during pregnancy.  I have experience facilitating the release of old trauma, whether due to previous losses, surviving abuse, or blockages that you just haven’t quite figured out yet.  We can work together on therapies to enable you to cope with exams and the events of labor and delivery.  Severe challenges can be addressed in clinic and private instruction.  Please see my website for doula packages and rates.

My hope is for your joyful lives, as you nurture yourselves, your families, and the earth, as the powerful goddesses you are meant to be.

With love,

Jane LaBelle,
