Doula: “One who mothers the mother”
Congratulations on the upcoming birth of your baby!
My name is Michelle and I am a mother and full-time postpartum doula.
I have trained as a postpartum doula with Doulas of North America (dona.org), which has provided me with a vast pool
of resources and techniques to help parents with a new baby. Also, as a Bradley
Method-trained Childbirth Educator I have facilitated birth preparation classes for expectant parents since 2003, further
adding to the resources I have available to help prepare for a new baby.
I look forward to providing you with postpartum support. My training and personal birth experience have given
me the tools, resources and empathy necessary for aiding in parents’ transition to a new baby in the household. The
birth of my son four years ago demonstrated to me the challenges of parenthood including the demands of my newborn, the new
emotions, the insecurities, and the total exhaustion.
I believe my role as a postpartum doula is to support the developing relationship between baby and parents through
addressing concerns, aiding in care, and ensuring core tasks are accomplished. Specifically,
I help alleviate the stress of the first few weeks following birth with:
- Breastfeeding support
- Guidance with infant care
- Advice on prioritizing key tasks and researching
resources
- Support assessing what needs to be asked
at doctor’s appointments and with the outcome of appointments
- Grocery shopping & errands
- Light meal preparation
- General straightening up
- Phone call and visitor screening
- Aid in the organization of the nursery and
other space impacted by the introduction of a new baby into the home
I bring a wealth of information, resources, energy and personal experience. I look forward to helping you and
your new baby. Please contact me for further information at:
